Dr Mandana Ashrafi

I am a practicing adult psychiatrist in New York City. I graduated medical school in Iran with honors. I have a background in psychiatry research and have co-authored over thirty published papers in the field. I completed my psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. 

I have received additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma and Dissociation-focused psychotherapy, Couple and Family Therapy, and completed an Intensive Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Fellowship at The William Alanson White Institute. My focus revolves around mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders as well as trauma. I am also passionate about working with couples and families to enhance their interpersonal relationships and address multi-generational issues.

Drawing from my experience, I have successfully collaborated with immigrant individuals, couples and families, navigating the intricacies of sexual, racial, and cultural identities. I am fluent in both English and Farsi, facilitating effective communication with a diverse range of individuals.
